Artist Statement:
SHEMOPHILIA This image stands as a tribute to the women who live with inherited bleeding disorders — a group often unseen, yet profoundly resilient. The red sun holds a double helix and blood droplets, symbolizing the genetic legacy that shapes their lives. The figures below rise together, not in defiance, but in recognition: of their shared struggle, their inherited power, and their right to be visible. In a world where hemophilia is often spoken of as a male condition, this piece reframes the narrative. It centers the women whose DNA carries the mark of bleeding, and whose lives carry the weight — and the strength — of that truth. “SHEMOPHILIA” is not just a word. It’s a call to witness. To honor. To believe.
